The annual review workshop of Technology Demonstration Component of NICRA of ICAR-ATARI, Jabalpur was held during 30-31 July 2023 at Indira Gandhi Krishi Vishwavidyalaya( IGKV)-Raipur.
Hon’ble Member of Parliament of Kanker, Chhattisgarh and Member of the Parliament Standing Committee on Agriculture, Animal Husbandry and Food processing (2021-22), Shri Mohan Mandavi attended the inaugural session.
Other dignitaries present in the workshop were Dr V.K.Singh, Director ICAR-CRIDA Hyderabad, Dr S.R.K.Singh Director ICAR-ATARI Jabalpur, Dr Ajay Verma DEE IGKV-Raipur, Dr GK Das, Dean College of Agriculture and Dr VK Pandey, Dean College of Agricultural Engineering IGKV-Raipur, Dr J.V.N.S. Prasad, Program Leader, NICRA-TDC, Hyderabad, Dr B Sanjiva Reddy Principal Scientist, ICAR-CRIDA, Hyderabad and heads of NICRA KVKs of the states of Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh participated in the programme.
Shri Mohan Mandavi Honourable MP, Kanker expressed concern regarding the changes in climate and their impacts of farmers livelihoods. He emphasized the need for organic farming, efficient use of organic resources at the farm, communicating the research results in the local language to farmers so as to enhance the adoption of the technologies.
Earlier, Dr VK Singh welcomed the dignitary and spoke about various initiatives taken as part of National Innovations in Climate Resilient Agriculture (NICRA) in the country and efforts made to spread the promising technologies among the farming community.
Dr SRK Singh spoke about the significant achievements of the NICRA KVKs in the ATARI zone and explained the impact created due to the technologies introduced as part of NICRA-TDC. Dr Verma spoke about the initiatives of the university and the impact due to the technologies developed by the university particularly the machines under small farm situations. During the day 11, KVKs presented consolidated reports for 2022-23 and action plan for 2023-24. During the meeting several suggestions were made for strengthening of the program of KVKs.
During the second day of the workshop, field visit to NICRA village of Durg, Chattisgarh was takenup involving all the participants, where several interventions were demonstrated. A farmer-scientist interaction was held to assess the performance of resilient technologies introduced in the village, their extent of adoption, constraints in large scale adoption in the villages, etc. so as to create an enabling environment for their spread in the NICRA village and the adjoining villages.
