Scientists from ICAR-CRIDA, Hyderabad visited Gaddamallaiahguda Village, Yacharam Mandal, Rangareddy District, Telangana on 1st August, 2023. The village has been adopted under a project entitled “Model Village Approach for Assessment and Dissemination of Dryland Technologies”.

Initially, the scientists monitored the various interventions under the project and visited farmers’ field selected under FLD. Diagnosis of the pest infestation in yellow sorghum and pigeon pea was done.

After that, a Focussed Group Discussion (FGD) was conducted along with the farmers to make them more aware of the pest and control measures through advisory (for sorghum stem borer, Dimethoate 30EC spray @1ml/litre of water or Carbofuran 3G @ 3-4 granules per shoot (1:1ratio granules: sand).

For aphids and other pests in pigeon pea, Emamectin benzoate 05 % SG @0.4gram per litre water). Later, Shri. Chinna Jangaiah, Sarpanch of the village briefed the farmers about the control measures. The visit was done by Dr. Timmanna, Scientist (Entomology) and Dr. C. N. Anshida Beevi, Scientist (Agril. Extension).
