Exposure visit to farmers and farm women under SCSP


On 21st January 2025, Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Ranga Reddy District, ICAR-Central Research Institute for Dryland Agriculture, organized an extension activity under SCSP in the villages of Ramachandra Guda and Mansanpally, Maheswaram Mandal, with 52 farmers and farm women beneficiaries participating. The activity focused on an exposure visit to demonstrate better management practices in flower crops such as Chrysanthemum and Marigold.

Sri G. Sri Krishna (SMS-Horticulture) and Dr. Dilip S. (SMS-Agricultural Extension) explained that key practices included drip irrigation, fertigation, raised bed cultivation, plastic mulching, microbial consortium application, micronutrient application, Integrated Pest Management (IPM), Integrated Disease Management (IDM), and organic farming techniques. Progressive farmers and subject matter specialists guided participants, and mechanization techniques such as mulch laying machinery, power weeders, tillers, and power sprayers were demonstrated. Farmers from non-traditional flower cultivation areas showed keen interest after observing the economic benefits experienced by practicing farmers.
