Krishi Vigyan Kendra-Ranga Reddy District, ICAR- CRIDA, Hyderabad organized a Training cum Input Distribution Programme on Scientific Goat Farming and Poultry Cages for Scheduled Caste Farmers of KVK adopted village farmers of Banda lemur village, manchal Mandal of Ranga Reddy district on 25th November 2024 at KVK, Hayatnagar Research farm. Dr. M H Chandrakant Senior Scientist cum Head, welcome the gathering and explained the KVK activities for the upliftment of the farming community. Dr.S K Bal I/C Director ICAR CRIDA graced the occasion as Chief Guest and explained about importance of fodder crops and their role in animal nutrition, advice the goat and poultry farmers to utilize the benefits of KVK services for the wellbeing of the farming community.
Dr.D.Sudheer, SMS (Veterinary Science) anchored the program aimed to impart practical knowledge on goat farming, including herd management, nutrition, breeding, and sustainable chick-rearing practices. These efforts support the sustainable and profitable development of goat farming and poultry rearing for Scheduled Caste farmers.
Under the SCSP Contingency Scheme, 15 female and 3 male goats (18 goats) were distributed to selected families from the weaker section, including single women, landless farmers, and farmers with less than 1 acre of land. In the same program, under the SCSP Capital Head Scheme, poultry cages were provided to 10 selected farm women. Totally 28 farmers and farm women benefitted through KVK intervention.
