National Women Farmers’ Day (Mahila Kisan Divas) & Technology Day 15.10.2018

National Women Farmers’ Day (Mahila Kisan Divas) and Technology Day was organized by Krishi Vigyan Kendra-Ranga Reddy District, CRIDA on 15.10.2018 at Hayathnagar Research Farm with the participation of women farmers from Ranga Reddy district. Dr.S.M.Vidya Sekhar, CTO, KVK welcomed the Chief guests, Resource persons and Dr. V.Maruthi, Head & Principal Scientist, KVK briefed the importance of the day and women’s role in agriculture. Dr.K.Sammi Reddy, Director, CRIDA, presided over as Chief Guest and addressed about the women farmers’ role in agriculture, drudgery management practices to be followed by women farmers, nutritional disorders and health issues. Dr.Y.G.Prasad, Director, ATARI, Guest of honour in his address requested the women farmers to utilize skill training programmes of KVK related to dairy and floriculture and NARI programme of ICAR through KVK. The resource persons Dr.K.Aruna, Professor and Head (Retd.), AICRP (Home Science) in her lecture informed the women farmers about the health, nutrition, diet, nutritive value of millets and gave a detailed presentation on nutritional disorders and remedies. Sri DGP Sharma, Senior Executive officer, Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC) has explained different schemes in KVIC, loan facilities and Honey production and rearing techniques.

Five progressive women farmers and women entrepreneurs from Ranga Reddy District were felicitated on this occasion. Three women entrepreneurs briefed their activities and entrepreneurship role of women on this occasion. About 215 women farmers and 90 farmers from different villages viz., Gaddamallaiahguda, Yellammathanda, Eithwarpally, Narrepally, Gummadivelly, Begumpeta, Kurmiddha, Aakulamailaram, Bacharam, Tharamathipeta and Navabpet mandal of Vikarabd District participated in the programme. Women groups from Yellammathanda displayed fabric works, Millet entrepreneur displayed food recipes. Exhibitions were organized on Farm machinery, livestock medicines, hydroponics, feed mixture, fodder crops, bio-products, micro irrigation, shade net nursery, mulching, organic products, books and literature. ICAR-IIOR, Hyderabad, KN Bio-sciences, Nagamitra farm machinery, displayed the products in stalls. As a part of culture programme prestigious Bathukamma festival and dance was performed by the women farmers. Smt A Vidyaadhari, CTO and SMS (Home Science) has organized the with the support of all Subject Matter Speceilists.
