A Kisan Mela was organized on Targeting Technology to Agro-Ecological Zones Large-Scale Demonstrations of Best Practices to Enhance Cotton Productivity on 25-2-2025 at KVK, Hayathnagar Research Farm, ICAR- CRIDA.
About 425 farmers from Ranga Reddy District actively participated and interacted in the Kisan mela. The main focus of the Kisan Mela was on capacity building and knowledge sharing on basic concepts of HDPS (High Density Planting System), pest, disease and water management, role of mechanization in sowing (using pneumatic planter) and kapas picking etc.
The ICAR-CICR (Indian Council of Agricultural Research – Central Institute for Cotton Research) in Nagpur has initiated Special project HDPS (High Density Planting System) on cotton to enhance cotton production in India. focus on identification, adaptation, reduce input costs improving productivity, sustainability, and the resilience of cotton farming under diverse conditions and promotion of best agricultural practices suited to the specific environmental and climatic conditions of india also providing financial assistance to farmers on encourage the adoption of new technologies and best practices in cotton cultivation.

In the beginning of programme Dr. S. Vijaya Kumar Nodal officer for special project on Cotton (HDPS&CS) explained about KVK mandate, its activities and mechanisation in agriculture and overview of Special Project on Cotton (HDPS & CS).He appreciated the line departments involvement in successful implementation of the programme.
Dr. Chandrakant M.H., Senior Scientist cum Head, KVK, Ranga Reddy, welcomed the guests and briefed the participants about the purpose of the kisan mela and praised the farmers for following the instructions given by KVK in implementation of the project

Dr. A.R Reddy, Principal Scientist & Nodal Officer, ATARI Zone-X, Hyderabad presented the report on Management of HDPS/CS Cotton: Issues and Measures.
Dr. M. Srinivasa Rao HEAD, DCS explained about planting in HDPS and its benefits and given suggestion in using pesticides in cotton crop and suggested to fallow the exact sowing window.

Shri B. Narasimha Rao , District Agriculture Officer Ranga Reddy appreciated the farmers for getting good yields by following instruction given under this project. He also appreciated CRIDA staff and KVK staff for successful implementation of the project.
He suggested to compile more success stories of farmers and exchange the knowledge to other farmers. He also suggested the farmers learn the knowledge from this project and follow the instructions to increase the yield of cotton.
Dr. S.K.Bal I/C director, ICAR-CRIDA told that this project is implementing in different states under different conditions. So there may be different problems may occur. To handle the problems he argued to follow the instructions given under this project like timely sowing, pestisides usages and irrigation etc.,
The chief guest for this programme Dr. Shaik N. Meera, Director, ICAR, ATARI, Hyderabad. elaborated on the services provided by KVK Ranga Reddy district. These services have contributed to significant improvements in crop productivity, reduction in cultivation costs, and the adoption of soil and water conservation techniques.
He reiterated the benefits of cultivating cotton in this method He appreciated the farmers in following the instructions under HDPS (High Density Planting System) and getting better yields. He also urged to follow the best sowing window and asked to do timely operation to get more yileds.
In recognition of their efforts, KVK Ranga Reddy honoured the farmers with felicitations.
