Brief Biodata

    Dr. B.M.K. Raju has been with CRIDA, Hyderabad since 2008. Over the years, he has been involved in harnessing statistical tools for policy and resource prioritization in agriculture, Climate Change Impacts, Risk and Adaptation Assessment. Dr. Raju's contributions to these areas have been recognized both nationally and internationally. Developed District Database of Agricultural Statistics. Revisited climatic classification in India at district level. Eligibility of districts to DPAP and DDP was revisited. A methodology was developed and standardized for delineation of homogeneous agro-climatic zones for a given crop and identifying districts having high unreaped yield potential (yield gap) for a given level of resources. Homogeneous agro-climatic zones were delineated for crops for 20 important field crops using multivariate cluster analysis. Overall rainfed yield efficiency of a district (based on 20 crops) was computed as weighted average of crop-wise efficiencies. 'Unreaped yield potentials in major rainfed crops and scope for bridging yield gaps - A decision support system (DSS)' was developed including 17 important rainfed crops (http://www.icar-crida.res.in:8129/). Contributed to risk and vulnerability assessment of Indian agriculture to climate change. Prioritized rainfed areas in India by constructing a composite index called Natural Resources Index at district level.
