The ICAR-Central Research Institute for Dryland Agriculture (CRIDA), Hyderabad, successfully organized Shraamdaan activities in Hanuman Nagar Village, Chincholi Taluka, Kalaburagi District, Karnataka on 21st December, 2024. It was conducted under SC Sub-Plan, with the active participation of local communities.

The event aimed to promote sanitation and cleanliness in rural areas, aligning with the broader objectives of Swachh Bharat Mission. The activities included swacchta pledge by the villagers and a series of Shramdaan programs, where the villagers engaged in cleaning and maintaining public places, roads and other common areas. Additionally, a cleanliness and sanitation drive were conducted, with a strong emphasis on raising awareness among the villagers about the importance of maintaining clean surroundings for a healthy life.
The participants were also educated about the significance of healthy nutrition as part of an overall approach to community well-being. This initiative not only contributed to improving the sanitation and hygiene levels in the village but also strengthened the sense of community involvement and responsibility towards environmental sustainability.
A total of 100 farmers and local residents actively engaged in the program, coming together to organise Swachhta Pakhwada. The program was attended by Dr. K. Sreedevi Shankar, Principal Scientist (Food & Nutrition), Dr. V. Maruthi, Principal Scientist (Agronomy), Mr. Abhishek Jadhav, Young Professional II, and Mr. Mailaram Pavan, Young Professional I.
