"Golden Jubilee Celebrations of KVK Establishment at Krishi Vigyan Kendra Ranga Reddy District"


The Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Ranga Reddy district, under ICAR-CRIDA in ICAR-ATARI, Hyderabad Zone-X, organized a training cum awareness interaction meeting as part of the Golden Jubilee celebrations of Krishi Vigyan Kendras on 05.06.2024. The program commenced with a warm welcome and formal registration of the farmers, who were presented with tokens of gratitude.The meeting was attend by Dr. Shaik N. Meera, Director, ICAR, ATARI, Hyderabad,Dr. M. Srinivasa Rao, Director i/c, ICAR-CRIDA, Hyderabad,Sri Venkateswarlu, Project Director, ATMA,Smt. Neeraja Gandhi, District Horticulture & Sericulture Officer,Dr. Chandrakant M.H., Senior Scientist cum Head, KVK, Ranga Reddy

Dr. Chandrakant M.H., Senior Scientist cum Head, KVK, Ranga Reddy, briefed the participants about the evolution of KVKs in India and the achievements of KVK Ranga Reddy, particularly its contributions to the welfare of farmers in the district.

Dr. Shaik N. Meera provided invaluable insights to farmers on secondary agriculture, urban horticulture and livestock management, aiming for enhanced profitability. He emphasized the importance of foresight in technology to anticipate and address future challenges. Dr. Meera suggested promoting an area-specific and farmer-centric approach, focusing on minimal interventions to ensure livelihood security for small and marginal farmers..

Dr. M. Srinivasa Rao, Director in-charge of ICAR-CRIDA, Hyderabad, elaborated on the services provided by KVK Ranga Reddy district. These services have contributed to significant improvements in crop productivity, reduction in cultivation costs, and the adoption of soil and water conservation techniques. Additionally, the KVK has promoted farm mechanization among small and marginal farmers, leading to sustainable increases in their net income.

Farmers, rural youth, representatives of NGOs, and other stakeholders shared their experiences and expressed that KVK Ranga Reddy has positively impacted their farming income and the overall prosperity of their village. Farmers also appraised the technologies disseminated and implemented in integrated crop management practices in horticulture and agriculture crops cultivation, and livestock management to have sustainable livelihoods and enhanced income.

In recognition of their efforts, KVK Ranga Reddy honoured the farmers with felicitations. The farmers also had the opportunity to visit an exhibition and view a rangoli, which depicted the golden jubilee celebration of KVKs.

The event concluded with a group photo of all participants and lunch. This meeting stands as evidence of the significant contributions made by KVK Ranga Reddy in the upliftment of small and marginal farmers and the overall agricultural landscape of the district over the past four decades.
