National Seminar on “Smart Technologies for Sustainable Agriculture and Environment” organized by the Indian Society of Agrophysics, Division of Agril. Physics, ICAR-IARI, New Delhi during 22-23 February, 2024 at ICAR-CRIDA, Hyderabad. About 350 stakeholders including scientists, research workers, farmers and students participated in the National Seminar. Dr. Himanshu Pathak, Secretary, DARE and DG, ICAR was the Chief Guest of the program. After the inaugural session, panel discussions on various topics and poster presentations were conducted.
During these two days Several dignitaries and experts presented and discussed aspects of digitization of agriculture integrating cutting-edge digital technologies into the farm production system and natural resource management, including artificial intelligence, Big Data Analytics, drones, remote sensing, sensors, and communication networks and farmer-scientist interaction.
The programme was concluded by a valedictory ceremony in the 23-02-2024 evening. Dr V. K. Singh, Director ICAR-CRIDA in his address informed the house that the seminar was held under different categories of presentations - Invited lectures, Oral and Posters sessions. The rapporteurs of the various sessions presented the recommendations.
Dr. Pragati Parmanik Maity, Secretary, ISAP presented brief report of the seminar. President of ISAP Dr.Y.S.Shivay explained about various activities done during this seminar and appreciated all the committee’s for their support in organizing the seminar.
Best poster awards were given during this program. During this program also honoured Dr.M.N.Rao, former Professor in Agrophysics at IARI.
Guest of Honour Dr. A.K. Singh, Former Vice-Chancellor (RVSKVV, Gwalior) & Former DDG (NRM) and former president of ISAP congratulated ICAR-CRIDA for successfully organising the seminar and asked the delegates to come up with plans to use smart technologies which were discussed during the two days like in nutrient management and other natural resources management.
Chief Guest Dr. S K Chaudhari, DDG (NRM), ICAR. commended the cohesive teamwork demonstrated by ISAP, emphasizing its pivotal role as a unified entity in driving the initiatives forward. Additionally, chief guest briefly touched upon the significant outcome of the program in terms of fund identification and allocation, underscoring its role in inspiring further advancements in the field. He emphasized the delegates to develop the projects using smart technologies based on the recommendations of the two days seminar.
Director, CRIDA felicitated the dignitaries and thanked them for their presence. The program was concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Pragati Parmanik Maity, Secretary, ISAP
