Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Ranga Reddy, ICAR-CRIDA,conducted a Farmers’ Field School (FFS) under the ATMA Scheme held on 27th August 2026 at Rampur village, Thalakondapally Mandal, Ranga Reddy District, Telangana.
The programme comprised farmer field interactions and practical field demonstrations, providing farmers with an opportunity to interact directly with KVK scientists and seek solutions to field-level agricultural problems. The KVK experts provided technical guidance on suitable paddy varieties, crop management practices, and identification and management of major insect pests and diseases.
Farmers were also sensitized on the selection of improved maize and redgram varieties suited to the prevailing local agro-climatic conditions.
Dr. Gautam Veer Chauhan, SMS (Agronomy), and Dr. Dilip S., SMS (Extension), served as resource persons. Dr. Gautam Veer Chauhan explained the importance of biofertilizers such as Azospirillum, Azotobacter and Phosphate-Solubilizing Bacteria (PSB), with emphasis on their proper storage, recommended dosage and appropriate methods of application.
Farmers were encouraged to follow balanced and soil-test-based fertilizer application to improve soil health and crop productivity.
Dr. Dilip S., SMS (Extension), highlighted various aspects of sustainable agriculture and sensitized farmers about the possible impacts of El Niño conditions on rainfall patterns and crop production.
He emphasized the importance of timely weather-based decision-making and suitable contingency measures. He also created awareness about the Kisan Sarathi app for accessing timely agricultural information and expert advisory services.
During the field visit, farmers observed the standing paddy crop and interacted with the KVK experts regarding crop growth, field conditions, pest and disease problems, and appropriate management interventions.
Mandal Agriculture Officer Smt. Shobha Devi, along with Agriculture Department officials and Cluster AEOs, participated in the programme and supported the farmer-oriented activities..
