ICAR-CRIDA Organises Advocacy Programme on Balanced Use of Fertilizers in Yacharam Mandal


ICAR-CRIDA organized 𝘈𝘥𝘷𝘰𝘤𝘢𝘤𝘺 𝘗𝘳𝘰𝘨𝘳𝘢𝘮𝘮𝘦 𝘰𝘯 on balanced fertilization on May 11, 2026, at Manthan Gowrelly village in Yacharam mandal of Rangareddy district, Telangana, under the Mera Gaon Mera Gaurav (MGMG) programme.

Around 96 farmers from Manthan Gowrelly village actively participated in the event. Dr. B. Bhargavi, Scientist (Agronomy), welcomed the participants and highlighted the importance of the campaign in promoting sustainable nutrient management practices, the need for soil test-based balanced fertilization and cautioned farmers against the excessive use of urea, noting its adverse effects on soil health, crop productivity, and input costs.

Dr. K. Sreedevi Shankar, Principal Scientist (Food and Nutrition), urged the farmers not to burn the rice residues in the field and the ill effects of residue burning. She also elaborated on the benefits of biofertilizers in reducing dependence on chemical fertilizers and maintaining soil health. She also highlighted the advantages of the use of biofertilizers for seed treatment, root dipping of seedlings and also field application along with organic manures.

During the programme, farmers were educated on the correct procedure for soil sampling, seed treatment with biofertilizers.
