On 26th May 2025, the KVK team travelled to Kesi Thanda (Manthangoud) Gram Panchayat in Yacharam Mandal, Ranga Reddy district, to initiate the CFLD-Pulses project. Around 85 farmers from the neighbouring Bhanu Thanda and Nunsavath Thanda attended the meeting. The visit aimed to educate farmers about cluster-based pulse cultivation, which can greatly enhance the benefits for the farming community.
Addressing the farmers on this occasion, Shri P. Ramakrishna emphasized that pulses are not only a crucial source of protein but also contribute significantly to improving soil fertility. By adopting cluster-based cultivation, farmers can take advantage of shared resources, collective knowledge, and improved market access, thereby making pulse farming more sustainable and profitable in rural communities.
Dr. Dilip S, Subject Matter Specialist, (Agricultural Extension), explained about the objective of CFLD project which allows farmers to come together, share equipment, and collaborate on best practices, which can lead to improved yields and reduced costs.
Dr. Gautam Veer Chauhan, Subject Matter Specialist (Agronomy), said the significance of CFLD Pulses and the essential inputs provided by KVK-RR to improve yield levels in the Redgram crop. He also told that collaborative efforts in seed sourcing and marketing can greatly enhance farmers' bargaining power and profitability.
Later in the afternoon, the team left to Chittapur village and distributed Redgram seeds to selected farmers as part of the CFLD-pulses program.
