ICAR-CRIDA KVK Team, made up of Shri. P. Ramakrishna, Technical Officer, Drs. Gautam Veer Chauhan and Dilip S along with NGO Representative visited Khammam-Nacharam village in Doma mandal of Vikarabad District on 20th May, 2025. The purpose of the visit was to interact with the prospective farmers and to promote Redgram cultivation through cluster demonstration which is a significant step towards empowering farmers and enhancing agricultural resilience.
Shri. P. Ramakrishna in his introductory comments, highlighted that the day marked a major step forward in enhancing agricultural methods for pulse farmers and enhancing the community's livelihood through joint initiatives. He highlighted the importance of seed treatment, timely planting of alternative crops for paddy, and the adoption of suitable high-yielding varieties for pulses, especially Redgram, to be implemented as part of the CFLD and Seed Hub project.
Dr. Dilip S, Subject Matter Specialist, (Agricultural Extension) informed that by adopting redgram cultivation, farmers can enhance their livelihoods while also promoting sustainable agricultural practices that positively impact both the environment and society.
Dr. Gautam Veer Chauhan, Subject Matter Specialist (Agronomy), emphasized the significance of soil testing in farming practices, noting its vital role in enhancing crop yields, especially in pulse cultivation. Later he showcased the technique for gathering soil samples in the field to the farmers. Mr. Anil representing NGO-WASSAN, facilitated the discussion that engaged approximately 30 farmers along with Young Professionals in the programme.
