On 22nd July, 2025, the team from ICAR-CRIDA KVK, comprising Shri P. Ramakrishna, Technical Officer, along with Subject Matter Specialists Drs. Gautam Veer Chauhan (Agronomy) and Dilip S (Agricultural Extension), undertook a visit to Gingurthy village of Tandur mandal in Vikarabad district. Accompanying the team was Shri. Sravan kumar, Agriculture Extension Officer of Gingurthy cluster, who visited the fields of farmers who have recently received redgram foundation seeds (TDRG-59) as part of the project titled "Ensuring Pulses Sufficiency in India by Capitalizing on the Model Pulse Village Approach." This visit aimed to assess the initial progress following the recent distribution of seeds and to gather feedback from the farmers.
During the visit, the team observed the healthy germination of Redgram crops and engaged directly with farmers to understand their experiences and challenges. Most farmers reported successful germination of the Redgram seeds, with many fields exhibiting healthy growth. In addition, farmers expressed their gratitude for the support received in the distribution of quality seeds and provided feedback on their agricultural methods, while also highlighting challenges related to erratic rainfall and weed management. Dr. Gautam Veer Chauhan discussed agronomic practices aimed at ensuring the best possible growth conditions.
Dr. S. Dilip responded to the issues brought up by several farmers concerning the necessity for additional assistance in pest control strategies and advice on managing diseases. Shri P. Ramakrishna, Technical Officer, emphasized the significance of prompt weeding and efficient water management, assuring the farmers that CRIDA KVK, in collaboration with the State line department, is dedicated to supporting them throughout this growing season.
