Field survey for Implementation of “Model Pulse Village” at Ekmai and Gingurthy villages in Vikarabad District


ICAR-CRIDA KVK Team, made up of Shri. P. Ramakrishna, Technical Officer, Drs. Gautam Veer Chauhan, and Dilip S visited Gingurthy village of Tandur (M) and Ekmai village of Basheerabad Mandal in Vikarabad District on 3rd and 5th March, 2025 respectively.

The purpose of the visit was to carry out survey of the region, with respect to Implementation of “Model Pulses Village” project sanctioned by Department of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare, Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare; Government of India, New Delhi.

The Telangana state agriculture department officers, Shri. M. Kurmaiah (MAO), Mr. Srinivas (AEO) of Tandur Mandal and Smt. Anitha (MAO), Mr.Navin (AEO) of Basheerabad Mandal organized the discussion with the farmers of above village clusters.

Shri. P. Ramakrishna, in his opening remarks, said that the day marked an important step towards enhancing the pulse growing farmers agricultural practices, improving community's livelihood through collaborative efforts. He explained them about the objectives of “Model Pulses Village” project to be implemented in the cluster villages of Gingurthy and Ekmai village clusters in Vikarabad District.

Dr. Dilip S, Subject Matter Specialist, (Agricultural Extension) highlighted the importance of soil testing for agricultural practices, as it plays a crucial role in optimizing crop production, particularly for pulse farming allowing to Understand Soil Health, Enhance Crop Yields, Resource Management, Sustainable Practices, etc. The staff made sure the farmers felt at ease and were open to expressing their opinions. Subsequently gathered the necessary data in the specified format and saved the finished survey.

KVK Staff, Dr. Gautam Veer Chauhan, Subject Matter Specialist (Agronomy), Young Professionals Mr. Saivardhan and Saikumar along with village farmers participated within short span of notice.
