Awareness programme on soil health management prior to implementation of “Cluster Front Line Demonstrations” & “Model Pulse Village” at Ekmai and Gingurthy villages in Vikarabad District


The team from ICAR-CRIDA KVK, consisting of Shri P. Ramakrishna, Technical Officer, Dr. Gautam Veer Chauhan, and Dilip S, conducted a visit to Gingurthy village of Tandur (M) and Ekmai village of Basheerabad (M) in Vikarabad District on 22 May 2025. The purpose of the visit was to create awareness to farmers, discuss the significance of conducting soil analysis before proceeding with pulse cultivation, as it provides valuable information about the nutrient status and overall health of the soil, which is critical for successful pulse farming.

On this occasion Shri P. Ramakrishna, spoke about importance of acquiring a Soil Health Card which is a crucial step before initiating pulse cultivation as it empowers farmers with the necessary information to make more informed agricultural decisions, leading to successful harvests and sustainable farming practices.

Dr. Gautam Veer Chauhan, Subject Matter Specialist (Agronomy) and Dr. Dilip S, Subject Matter Specialist, (Agricultural Extension) discussed about the soil health card, a tool designed to assist in nutrient management, enhance soil fertility, regulate pest populations, conserve water, and promote sustainable agricultural practices. They said that this initiative not only aids in the healthy growth of pulses but also contributes positively to environmental sustainability.

Later, Dr. Dilip illustrated the process of collecting soil samples from the field for the farmers.
