A field demonstration on scientific soil sampling protocols for soil test–based nutrient management was successfully conducted under OADMP project supported by National Disaster Mitigation Fund and the Department of Agriculture and Farmers’ Empowerment, Bhubaneswar, in Raruan block of Mayurbhanj district, Odisha on 17–18 June 2026.
The demonstrations were carried out across three Gram Panchayats (Tilakuti, Godapalsa, and Bhanjakia) focusing on creating awareness among farmers about proper soil sampling techniques and the importance of soil test–based nutrient management.
A total of 900 beneficiaries belonging to small and marginal farmers of marginalised communities were identified across 26 villages of three gramma panchayat’s for allocation of soil test based Soil Health Cards with recommendations under the programme.
The field activities were led by Dr. S.Suvana S, Senior Scientist (Soil Science) and Co-Principal Investigator (OADMP) and Dr. A. K. Indoria, Senior Scientist (Soil Physics) and Co-Principal Investigator (OADMP) from ICAR-Central Research Institute for Dryland Agriculture, Hyderabad, in coordination with farmers, Shri Gurucharan Mohanta, (Block Technology Manager-Raruan), Ms. Puspita Naik, (Assistant Agriculture Officer-Raruan), Shri Satyabrata Sardar Singh, (Block Agriculture Officer-Raruan) and respective local village committees.
