ICAR-CRIDA Organized Intensive Awareness Campaign on Balanced use of Fertilization at Nawabpet mandal, Mahabubnagar district


ICAR- Central Research Institute for Dryland Agriculture organizing Save the Field Campaign 2026 (खेत_बचाओ_अभियान ) in response to the call from the Government of India and Indian Council of Agriculture (ICAR), to promote balanced fertilizer use, soil health conservation, among farmers.

Under this programme, ICAR–CRIDA, organized an intensive awareness campaign on Balanced use of Fertilization and Soil Health Management on 17 June 2026 at Siddotam Village of Nawabpet Mandal in Mahabubnagar District of Telangana.

A total of 60 farmers, including 40 women farmers, participated in the programme. The farmers were briefed about the importance of soil test-based balanced fertilization and the importance of soil testing were highlighted. The team highlighted various soil health management practices, including integrated nutrient management, the use of organic amendments, and biofertilizer application. Detailed information on different methods of biofertilizer application was provided, and a practical demonstration of seed treatment with biofertilizers was conducted.

Farmers were encouraged to adopt crop diversification by integrating pulses, green manure crops, and other suitable crops into their farming systems. The benefits of organic manures, compost, vermicompost, green manures, and biofertilizers were also discussed.

The programme was coordinated by Dr. T. V. Prasad, Principal Scientist (Entomology), Dr. Savitha Santosh, Scientist (Agricultural Microbiology), and Mr. Mallesh Goud, Village Sarpanch, who mobilized farmers and facilitated their active participation in the event.
