ICAR-CRIDA organized awareness programme on Balanced Fertilization use and Soil Health Management in Sadashivpet Mandal of Sangareddy District of Telangana state


ICAR- Central Research Institute for Dryland Agriculture organizing Save the Field Campaign 2026 (खेत_बचाओ_अभियान ) in response to the call from the Government of India and Indian Council of Agriculture (ICAR), to promote balanced fertilizer use, soil health conservation, and natural farming among farmers.

Under this programme ICAR-CRIDA, Hyderabad organized an awareness campaign on Balanced Fertilization use and Soil Health Management on 18 June 2026 at Nizampur village, in Sadashivpet Mandal of Sangareddy District Telangana state.

The following scientists from ICAR-CRIDA, Hyderabad has attended the campaign:

1. Dr. K.B. Sridhar Senior Scientist (Agroforestry),
2. Dr. Josily Samuel, Senior Scientist (Agricultural Economics)

A total of 20 farmers participated in the interactive session. The farmers were apprised about the rainfall situation, integrated nutrient management, crop diversification, soil health management, efficient utilization of crop residues, and water conservation measures. Farmers were also sensitized about the role of biofertilizers in sustainable agriculture.

The participants were also sensitized to the consequences of imbalanced and excessive fertilizer application, including nutrient use inefficiency, soil degradation, nutrient mining, environmental pollution, and reduced crop response. Farmers were encouraged to adopt sustainable nutrient management practices to ensure long-term agricultural productivity, soil resource conservation, and environmental sustainability.
