ICAR-CRIDA organized awareness programme on Balanced Fertilization use and Soil Health Management in Yacharam mandal, Rangreddy District District of Telangana state


ICAR- Central Research Institute for Dryland Agriculture organizing Save the Field Campaign 2026 (खेत_बचाओ_अभियान) in response to the call from the Government of India and Indian Council of Agriculture (ICAR), to promote balanced fertilizer use, soil health conservation, and natural farming among farmers.

Under this programme ICAR-CRIDA, Hyderabad organized an awareness campaign on Balanced Fertilization use and Soil Health Management on 22 June 2026 at Gunegal Village of Yacharam mandal in Rangareddy District of Telangana state.

The following scientist from ICAR-CRIDA, Hyderabad attended the campaign:

1. Dr Priya Gurav, Senior Scientist (Soil Science)

A total of 35 farmers including 12 female farmers participated in the interactive session. Basani Buchi Reddy, Sarpanch of the village, also attended and interacted with the farmers.

Dr Priya Gurav, Senior Scientist (Soil Science), urged the farmers to follow soil test based balanced fertilizer use and avoid excessive use of urea to preserve the health of the soil, increase crop yields and cut down avoidable fertilizer costs.

She also explained the need to use biofertilizers for reducing chemical fertilizers and maintaining soil health. She advised the farmers to apply organic manures and green manures to reduce the use of chemical fertilizers and informed them of sustainable agricultural practices.

The farmers were also advised to use proper procedures for soil sampling and literature on soil sampling was distributed to the farmers. Farmers were encouraged to adopt sustainable nutrient management practices to ensure long-term agricultural productivity, soil resource conservation, and environmental sustainability.
