ICAR- Central Research Institute for Dryland Agriculture organizing Save the Field Campaign 2026 (खेत_बचाओ_अभियान ) in response to the call from the Government of India and Indian Council of Agriculture (ICAR), to promote balanced fertilizer use, soil health conservation, and natural farming among farmers.
Under this programme ICAR-CRIDA, Hyderabad organized an awareness campaign on Balanced Fertilization use and Soil Health Management on 30 June 2026 in Kothapalle village of Yacharam mandal in Rangareddy district of Telangana state
Dr. K. Srinivas, Principal Scientist (Soil Science) of ICAR-CRIDA, advised the Farmers to avoid the excessive use of urea and DAP, noting their adverse effects on soil health, crop productivity, and input costs. He demonstrated seed treatment with biofertilizer and urged farmers to take up seed treatment or soil application of suitable biofertilizers. He also explained the need for soil test-based balanced fertilization
He also advised farmers to adopt other sustainable farming practices like diversifying crops, growing and incorporating green manures, adopting soil and water conservation measures such as ridge and forrow planting, and use of natural alternatives to chemical pesticides.
Additional information, such as availability, price, method of use of different inputs suggested was provided to the farmers.
