ICAR-CRIDA organized Save the Field Campaign 2026 (खेत_बचाओ_अभियान ) at Chityala Mandal in Nalgonda district of Telangana state

ICAR- Central Research Institute for Dryland Agriculture organizing Save the Field Campaign 2026 (खेत_बचाओ_अभियान ) in response to the call from the Government of India and Indian Council of Agriculture (ICAR), to promote balanced fertilizer use, soil health conservation, among farmers.

Under this programme ICAR-CRIDA, Hyderabad organized an awareness campaign on Balanced Fertilization use and Soil Health Management on 16 June 2026 in Urimadla village of Chityala Mandal in Nalgonda district of Telangana state.Total 25 Farmers participated in the programme

During the programme, Dr. Manoranjan Kumar, Principal scientist (soil and water conservation) discussed the principles of balanced nutrient management and highlighted the importance of maintaining soil health for sustainable agricultural production. He emphasized that the continuous and excessive use of chemical fertilizers can lead to soil degradation, nutrient imbalance, and declining productivity over time.

He also stressed the importance of integrating biofertilizers, compost, natural farming practices, and other organic manures to improve soil fertility and crop performance.

Dr. A.Keerthika, Senior scientist (Agroforestry) explained the importance of green manuring, soil testing, and split application of nitrogen fertilizers for enhancing nutrient-use efficiency and crop productivity. She also highlighted the role of micronutrients such as zinc and boron in sustaining crop growth and improving yields.

The scientists interacted with the farmers to understand the existing cropping patterns and farming practices in the village. Based on the discussions, farmers were advised to adopt crop diversification and integrated nutrient management practices to improve farm productivity, soil health, and resilience under dryland conditions.

The programme created awareness among farmers about sustainable soil health management and the need for balanced fertilizer use for achieving long-term agricultural sustainability.
