ICAR-CRIDA organized Save the Field Campaign 2026 (खेत_बचाओ_अभियान ) at Jadcharla mandal of Mahabubnagar district of Telangana state

ICAR- Central Research Institute for Dryland Agriculture organizing Save the Field Campaign 2026 (खेत_बचाओ_अभियान ) in response to the call from the Government of India and Indian Council of Agriculture (ICAR), to promote balanced fertilizer use, soil health conservation, and natural farming among farmers.

Under this programme ICAR-CRIDA, Hyderabad organized an awareness campaign on Balanced Fertilization use and Soil Health Management on 9th June 2026 at Aloor Village in Jadcharla mandal of Mahabubnagar district of Telangana state

The following scientists from ICAR-CRIDA, Hyderabad has attended the campaign:
1. Dr. B.Sanjeeva Reddy, Principal Scientist (Farm Machinery Power)
2. Dr. V.Visha Kumari Senior Scientist (Agronomy)

The campaign focused on promoting sustainable soil and nutrient management practices for improving farm productivity while conserving natural resources.

Total 50 farmers including 28 women farmers attended the programme

Addressing the farmers,Dr. Sanjeev Reddy highlighted the importance of balanced and need-based fertilizer application. He emphasized reducing excessive dependence on urea and adopting integrated nutrient management practices that combine chemical fertilizers with organic sources and biofertilizers to maintain soil fertility and improve nutrient-use efficiency.

Dr. V. Visha Kumari spoke on the critical role of rainwater harvesting and in-situ moisture conservation in rainfed agriculture. She explained how effective conservation of rainwater can enhance soil moisture availability, reduce crop stress during dry spells and strengthen resilience to climate variability.

A hands-on demonstration on the use of biofertilizers was organized during the programme. Farmers were informed about the benefits of biofertilizers in improving nutrient availability, reducing fertilizer costs, enhancing soil and biological activity.

The programme was attended by Mr. Linga, Sarpanch, and Ms. Nageshwari, Agricultural Extension Officer (AEO), who encouraged farmers to adopt scientific nutrient and water management practices for sustainable agricultural development.
