ICAR-CRIDA Scientist Team Conducted Focus Group Discussion with farmers at Raruan Block, Mayurbhanj, Odisha under OADMP


Focus Group Discussion (FGD) was conducted by a team of scientists from ICAR-Central Research Institute for Dryland Agriculture (CRIDA), Hyderabad in the villages of Tilokuti and Bhanjakia Gram Panchayats of Raruan Block of Mayurbhanj District, Odisha during 25th and 26th February, 2026.

The FGD (structured questionnaire) as part of the project on "Odisha Agriculture Drought Mitigation Programme (OADMP)" under National Disaster Mitigation Fund (NMDF) / Department of Agriculture and Farmers’ Empowerment (DAFE), Bhuvneshwar, Odisha. During the team discussion with respective village farmers, preliminary status on Natural Resource Management resources, crop, livestock, agroforestry, farm machinery and soil condition at village level (14 villages of two-gram panchayats) were collected. The discussion was attended by farmers from 14 villages, the Raruan block level agriculture officials, Sarpanch and Zilla Parishad member.

On 27th February, 2026 the team has visited District Chief Agriculture Office, Mayurbhanj, Baripada and interacted with Mr. Lokanath Mishra, Chief District Agriculture Officer cum PD, ATMA, Mayurbhanj and other line Department officials. Dr. G. Venkatesh (PI of the project), Dr. DBV Ramana, Dr.K.B.Sridhar, Dr.Suvana Sukumaran., Dr. A. Keerthika and Dr. Anshida Beevi CN (Co-PIs) from ICAR-CRIDA coordinated the programme.
