Skill Development Programme for Farmers on “Millets for Sustainable Food Systems for Food, Environmental and Nutritional Security” under SCSP at ICAR-CRIDA


ICAR-Central Research Institute for Dryland Agriculture (ICAR-CRIDA), Hyderabad organized five-days Skill development Programme for Farmers on “Millets for Sustainable Food Systems for Food, Environmental and Nutritional Security” during 08th-12th September, 2025 at ICAR-CRIDA, Hyderabad under SC Sub-Plan.

The Programme covered various aspects including post-harvest management and value addition in millet crops, biofertilizer application, rainwater management technologies for enhanced water productivity, cropping system management, farm mechanization and integrated pest management in millet crops.

The programme also included exposure visits to CRIDA Research Farms, National Fisheries Development Board (NFDB), Millet Processing and Incubation Centre (MPIC), PJTAU etc.

Valedictory session of programme was held on 12th September, 2025. Dr. T. V. Prasad, Nodal Officer, SCSP presented brief report of the skill development programme. Dr. V.K. Singh, Director, ICAR-CRIDA, Chief Guest for the valedictory session urged the farmers to adopt latest technologies to improve the farm income. During the session, the Chief Guest has distributed the certificates and nutri-millet kits to the participants.

Twenty farmers from two villages of Kotapally Mandal, Mancherial District of Telangana State attended the training programme.

The Programme was coordinated by a team of CRIDA scientists consisting Dr. K. Sreedevi Shankar (Course Director), Dr. P. K. Pamkaj, Dr. G. Venkatesh, Dr. A. G. K. Reddy, Dr. R. Rejani, Dr. H. B. Santosh, Dr. Jagriti Rohit and Dr. C.N. Anshida Beevi (Co-course Directors).
