On 20th June 2026, ICAR-Central Research Institute for Dryland Agriculture (CRIDA) and Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) of ICAR-CRIDA, Hyderabad, organized a programme of live viewing of the event release of 23rd instalment under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-Kisan) Scheme by Hon'ble Prime Minister from Tarakeswar, Hooghly, West Bengal at ICAR-CRIDA, Hyderabad.
This webcast was attended by ICAR-CRIDA staff, students of IARI-Mega University Hyderabad Hub, KVK staff, and farmers. Total 263 members attended and effectively conveyed the Prime Minister's message to the participants.
The programme was conducted which is a significant step toward reinforcing the government's commitment to supporting farmers. The successful execution of the telecast not only disseminated vital information regarding the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi but also fostered a sense of community among farmers.
On this occasion before webcasting an introductory remarks delivered by Dr. K. Ravi Shankar, nodal officer of this programme. Dr. M.H. Chandrakanth, Head, Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) of ICAR-CRIDA emphasized the importance of PM-KISAN in supporting the livelihoods of small and marginal farmers and reiterated ICAR’s role in promoting dryland agriculture.
ICAR-CRIDA staff and KVK staff also briefed about PM Dhan Dhanya Krishi Yojana and Mission for Aatmanirbharta in Pulses. He told that PM Dhan Dhanya Krishi Yojana scheme is aimed to enhance productivity, promote crop diversification, improve irrigation and storage.
Scientists of ICAR-CRIDA also explained about Kharif Season Crop Plan followed by Pulse Mission, Natural Farming to create awareness to the participants.
Farmers were sensitized about Save the Field Campaign 2026 and the importance of soil test-based balanced fertilization for sustainable crop production. They were advised to avoid excessive use of urea, which can negatively affect soil health, crop productivity, and farm profitability.
KVK staff also created awareness on crop and livestock production technologies, essential resources, including bio-fertilizers, agricultural machinery usage in agriculture. Later farmers and scientists interaction also made.
The event, broadcast from Tarakeswar, Hooghly, West Bengal marked the direct benefit transfer (DBT) of more than ₹18,880 crore transferred directly into the bank accounts of over 9.44 crore farmers across the country, reaffirming the Government’s commitment to farmer welfare and agricultural prosperity.
A virtual address by the Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi was live-streamed from Tarakeswar, Hooghly, West Bengal, where he formally released the 23rd instalment of the PM-KISAN scheme. The Prime Minister reaffirmed the government’s dedication to ensuring the economic stability of farmers and stressed the significance of timely financial assistance.
It served as a platform to reinforce the government's vision for transforming Indian agriculture through innovation, inclusion, and investment.
