Brief Bio

Dr. K. Srinivas is a Principal Scientist (Soil Science) in the Division of Resource Management. He is currently serving as officer in charge of soil chemistry laboratory and central laboratory at ICAR-CRIDA. Over the last 30 years, he has carried out research on integrated plant nutrient management through conjunctive use of organic and inorganic sources of plant nutrients, synchronizing nitrogen availability with crop demand through management of plant residue quality, organic production of sorghum and pigeonpea in rainfed areas, boron response of rainfed crops, identification of sustainable soil and nutrient management practices through soil quality indexing, plant root characterization and potential role of plant roots in sequestering carbon, and assessment of carbon sequestration potential of soil. He has also been involved in outreach programmes for sustainable livelihood enhancement of rural communities through strategic deployment of agricultural technology and creation of enabling environments. He is currently engaged in research on tillage and crop residue management for soil fertility and crop productivity. He taught soil science to undergraduate students of dryland agriculture and has guided the thesis/dissertation research of many graduate students. He is trained in environmental impact assessment, and crop modeling. He has expertise in design and execution of agricultural research experiments, sampling and analysis of soils and plants using state of the art equipment, and statistical analysis and interpretation of data.
